The Fernie Museum is a vibrant, community-based cultural institution which integrates regional history, art and culture to understand, communicate and preserve what is unique about our community and region. The Fernie & District Historical Society, which operates the museum, provides the resources to manage and house a large artifact and archival collection, which includes items like the Fernie Free Press archive from 1899 and a historic photo collection totalling in the thousands. These collections are maintained to ensure the area’s history is preserved and our community stories do not fade. Our goal is to continue this essential work that is at the core of our community identity.
